A dark time for the family of the Adichie’s as a popular feminist and award-winning Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie loses mother barely a year after her father died.
It was learnt that she died suddenly on Monday, March 1st, 2021 in Awka, Anambra State. The cause of her death is yet to be revealed. She was 78 years old.
“It was very sudden and we are devastated,” a family spokesperson, Ms Omowwumi Ogbeh, said.
She is survived by her six children: Ijeoma, Uchenna, Chuks, Okechukwu, Chimamanda and Kenechukwu; as well as nine grandchildren, in-laws and many relatives.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, according to a family source.
