Why We Used Davido’s Song In ‘Coming To America 2’ – Eddie Murphy

Davido’s name has been mentioned and given due credit for winning a cast with his global hit song ‘Assurance’ in the movie ‘Coming To America 2’ of Paramount Pictures Productions distributed by Amazon Studios.

According to a tweet spotted on Twitter by twitter user identified as Ramid who we believe is a fan of OBO has alleged in his tweet that, according to Eddie Murphy, who is the lead character of the movie, has stated that, Davido was the first artist who came to the decision board when they needed an Afrobeat song in the movie.

Ramid tweeted “According to Eddie Murphy, they needed AFROBEATS on the Movie and the First & Only Person to cross their mind was DAVIDO.”

Davido was cast to act with live performance of his song Assurance which was originally said to be a dedicated love song for his fiancé Chioma.

In the movie, he performed the song at the traditional Zamunda wedding of Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) son Prince Lavelle Junson (Jarmain Fowler) marries his beloved wife.

Davido put up an outstanding performance and deserves the accolades as such.

However, we cannot confirm Eddie Murphy, who is also one of the two producers of Coming to America 2 has stated what indeed made the statement of Ramid anywhere.

We are tempted to believe Ramid’s tweet is one of the many that try to paint Davido as the best of his colleague Burna Boy who also featured on the Theme Song of ‘Coming To America 2’.
