Funke Akindele loses her LGA to Sanwo-Olu

Funke Akindele, the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, has lost the election in Ikorodu LGA.

Akindele, who is from Ikorodu, is the running mate to Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran, the governorship candidate of the PDP.

When the results of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ikorodu were announced on Sunday at the Lagos state collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yaba, the actress lost by a huge margin to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sanwo-Olu secured 64,697 votes to defeat Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP) who polled 13,207 votes. Jandor came third with 3,797 votes.

Akindele also lost to Sanwo-Olu at her polling unit in 019 in Ita Aro square, Ikorodu LGA. The PDP gathered a total of 19 votes while the APC raked in 77 votes.
