*MINORITY PARTIES FORUM ENDORSE TAJUDEEN ABBASS AND BENJAMIN KALU FOR SPEAKER AND DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE 10TH ASSEMBLY OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.*

Ahead of the June 13th inauguration of the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives, members of the Minority Parties Forum today adopted the duo of Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbass and Benjamin Kalu for the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House respectively.

The decision of the Forum was reached after a four hour meeting attended by over eighty representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, All Progressive Grand Alliance, Africa Democratic Congress and the Young Peoples Party at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the coordinator, Rt. Hon Idu Igariwey and Secretary, Rt. Hon. Kabir Alhassan Rurum, the Forum noted that Tajudeen Abbass and Benjamin Kalu possess the requisite academic, legislative and moral competencies to lead the 10th Assembly in a manner that will allow opposition political parties participate effectively in the running of the House and promote best democratic practices of allowing expression of dissenting opinion in a multi-party democracy.

The Minority Parties Forum admonished all members-elect of the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives to support the election of Abass and Kalu on the 13th of June when the House will be inaugurated.
