Orile Owu: Why Governor Adeleke is right to allow the Rule of Law
We write to correct the misleading information published on Opera News, an online news agency, with the title:
“Orile-owu Obaship Tussle: Indigenes Want Gov Adeleke To Install Adenrele as Appeal Court Dethrones Akinfalabi.”
This headline is misleading and only calls for anarchy and chaos in the peaceful ancient city of Orile Owu.
Contrary to the misinformation, the judgement did not sack HRM Oba Daud Ajolola Akinfalabi as the Oba of Orile Owu. Instead, the court ordered a retrial, maintaining the status quo until the outcome of the retrial in the State High Court, Osogbo.
It’s essential to clarify that the judgement was not declaratory, and it did not mandate the dethroning of HRM Oba Daud Ajolola Akinfalabi. We urge the public and the good people of Orile Owu who have continued to show massive support for their rightful King, to disregard the misinformation and respect the rule of law.
In the judgement of the Appeal Court, dated 27th January 2025, Justice Abubakar Lamido Muazu, JCA “ordered a retrial of the suit” and there’s no where in the said judgement that the stool of the Olowu of Orile Owu was declared vacant or that HRM Oba Daud Ajolola Akinfalabi has been sacked by the Appellant court.
It is therefore surprising and worrisome to read from an unknown and faceless organization, who called themselves Owu Development Foundation, that the governor should comply with the Appeal Court judgement. It is obvious that these faceless people are hell bent on causing chaos in a largely peaceful society.
For the avoidance of doubt, it is pertinent to state that the governor, has in fact complied with the judgement by allowing the court to do it’s designated job.
The good people of Orile Owu are hereby calling on His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, to not distort the peace and calm that have been enjoyed for several years now in the community and allow the court decides the matter before it.
We commend Governor Ademola Adeleke, a well-known law-abiding governor, for his commitment to upholding the law. We believe he will allow the rule of law to take its full effect in this matter, ensuring justice and fairness for all parties involved.
