ARC. ONUMAJURU LAUDS ARCHITECTS FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT
…Says they create something from nothing.
Imo State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, ARCHITECT CHIJIOKE ONUMAJURU has lauded Architects for their contributions to sustainable environment, describing them as next to God, as according to him, “apart from God, Architects are the only professionals who create something from nothing”.
The Housing and urban development Commissioner stated this in his address during the 2023 edition of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Architects’ Summit of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Imo State chapter, with the theme: Built Environment: “The Architects Role in its sustainability”, held at the Graceland Event Centre, off Onitsha Road, Owerri.
He promised as the Commissioner of Housing and urban development to support and contribute to whatever is required to make the profession better. He also promised to help bridge the gap existing between the institute and government.
“The roles Architects were supposed to play most of the time are given to non professionals”.
He said his appointment by Governor Hope Uzodimma as the Commissioner for Housing and urban development is a clear testimony that the present government wants to do things positively different for the betterment of the state.
