THE KIDNAPPING OF HIS HONOR, JANET GALADIMA, AND HER SONS: THE GOVERNMENT MUST SIT UP. ~Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN

I condemn the kidnapping of His Honor, Janet Galadima, a distinguished Customary Court judge in Kaduna State, along with her four sons. This heinous crime, perpetrated approximately a week ago from her home, has been further compounded by the subsequent gruesome murder of her eldest son by these callous criminals.

The incident is not merely an attack on an individual, but an affront to the entire judicial system and the principles of justice and fairness that it upholds. It undermines the sanctity of the judiciary, instills fear among judicial officers, and disrupts the administration of justice, which is foundational to the maintenance of peace, order, and the rule of law in our society.

I call on all relevant authorities, including security agencies, the Kaduna State Government, and the Federal Government, to prioritize the immediate and safe release of Judge Galadima and the children. Those responsible for this egregious act must be swiftly brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate similar actions.

The government must enhance the security and protection of all judicial officers and citizens across the country. Judges and other judicial personnel must be able to perform their duties without fear of violence or intimidation. The security of our judiciary is non-negotiable and fundamental to the stability and integrity of our nation.

I stand in solidarity with Judge Galadima’s family, friends, and colleagues during this distressing time. My thoughts and prayers are with them, and I share in their prayer and hope for their immediate and safe return.
