Personality Of The Week: Abasiofiok Akpabio

Abasiofiok Akpabio is a nationalist and a 500 level Student of the department of medicine and Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calabar.

She hails from Akwa Ibom state.
she began her journey into student unionism as far back as 2013 when she was the Vice President and acting president of the Genetics and Biotechnology Students Association (GEBSA), University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State. 2013-2014.

After completing her first degree she went back to study medicine and surgery under which she emerged as the first female scribe of Calabar University Medical Students’ Association (CUMSA) PARLIAMENT.

She came up with the first time event in CUMSA tagged Constituency Projects. Abasifiok Akpabio currently is the Vice president of the Students’ Union government, the University of Calabar serving as a mother to all and an inspiration to the younger malabresses.

Prior to her second first degree, She had earned some leadership experience during National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year as the first female Community Development Service (CDS) President under Peer Educator Trainers (PET) in Enugu State. She organized sensitization programs for secondary schools within where she served and this was sponsored by UNICEF.

Recently, as the Vice President of SUG, Unical, she brought in free vocational skill training for students which got over 300 students engaged in the training for a 2-month duration. This is the first of its kind in the University.

Abasiofiok Akpabio is a goal-oriented leader. She is ever ready to serve and impact her environment positively.
