The Real Reason Everyone Should Vote

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE

Maybe you think there’s no point in voting during elections. Well, guess how many people think that; a lot! Here are 5 things that will change your mind about voting:

1. It might feel like your vote won’t matter, but it will make a difference, especially in local and state elections. You might see a lot of big numbers on the screen but there are plenty of cases where a small number of votes have decided elections.

2. The winner of the election will represent you anyway. There’s usually one candidate who represents your interests better than the others.

When you choose not to vote, you’re letting others decide who gets to make and enforce laws as your representative.

3. It’s actually easy to register. All you have to do is get a ride to an INEC office close to your residence or place of work. Fill out a form and pick up your voters’ card when it’s ready. You can also do this online.

4. The result of elections affect your everyday life. There are people making decisions that affect your life and you have the power to choose who’s making these decisions on your behalf. They must answer to you, not the other way around.

5. It’s FREE. History tells us that a lot of good people fought for the right to vote. Why not vote then?

Hope you’ve found one or two reasons to participate in elections by voting. What other issues might stop a person from voting? Let us know in the comment section.
