Emma Eregarnoma (aka Emma Kaffe), invited his mother, Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, to his house on Caroline Street, Okuokoko, in Okpe LGA, Delta State after he persuaded her that he had a surprising package for her.
On getting there, she said she saw Emma in an unusual happy mood after he welcomed her in.
Not wasting time, he immediately increased the volume of his musical gadgets.
“And I thought my son was playing my favorite music to welcome me to his house”.
Mrs Oke further narrated that her son suddenly locked the door, rushed to her and pulled her down, pinning her down with all his strength to strangle her and using his whole fingers to pluck off her eyes as he trapped her on the ground with his knees placed on her chest.
“As I screamed for help, no one heard me due to the loud music. I struggled and we rolled over, pulling down everything on sight to free myself. I was almost dying as he held my throat”.
She said after fighting with his son for some minutes she regained her strength, pulled down the door and ran outside for help, while neighbours came to her rescue.
Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, while narrating her ordeal to journalists on a hospital bed where she was recuperating, recalled that before the attack, her son had boasted that “he must drive 4matic GLK this week”.
The suspect was consequently chased and apprehended by neighbors as he made to escape and was immediately taken to the police station.
Emma was detained at the Orerokpe divisional police headquarters in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State over the incident, which occurred on Tuesday in Okuokoko community near Warri.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was in custody.
According to the police boss,
“what else would have prompted a son to kill his mother in a broad day light if not greed, avarice and gross wickedness”.
