A court of appeal in Oyo has set aside a judgment which ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to conduct fresh primaries to elect the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun state.
O Oguntoyin, judge of the Ogun federal high court, had on September 27 directed the state executive committee of the PDP to conduct fresh primaries within 14 days.
Delivering judgment on Monday in an appeal filed by the PDP, Folasade Ojo, judge of the appellate court, held that the high court erred.
She held that only the national working committee (NWC) of the PDP has the power to conduct primaries.
