Aside being a Dj, Godfrey Egbe, aka Dj Baddo is an entertainer, promoter, producer and a blogger.
In this interview with AproTv, Dj Baddo talks about his career, relationship and how the Covid-19 pandemic affected his profession.
Tell us about DJ Baddo
My name is Godfrey Egbe aka the Originator, aka DJ Baddo, aka lord of mixtape. I’m a disc jockey, an entertainer, a promoter, producer and a blogger.
What inspired the name, DJ Baddo?
Well, You know, when you do good things to people around you they just find a name to tag or label you. the name Baddo came from friends hailing me.
How has the journey been from scratch?
God has always been there. I started from nowhere but God took me and is still taking me somewhere. The journey is not straight neither is it easy. God has been faithful and he’s been seeing me through it all.
How long have you been a professional DJ?
Decades right now.
What are some of the challenges you think DJs face in the music industry?
In Nigeria, disc jockeys are not getting the recognition they deserve. You have to raise your game, put in more works to show the world how good or talented you are.
What is your perspective on DJs featuring music artistes?
DJs featuring music artistes is a means of promotion and this is beneficial to both parties. Your relationship with the artiste or your level in the industry matters and the promotion must be well handled.
Tell us about some of your notable works
My notable works… hmmm… to mention a few;
My Mixtapes, my Features with A – List artistes, how I trill my fans while on the wheel and my promotions are wide, I mean they traveled far.
Do you have any current project going on at the moment?
Yes I do, There is this concert I put up every year tagged “The True Nigerian Dream” but due to the pandemic it won’t hold. ALTHOUGH, I’M still working on few projects which will be hitting out hard soon.
How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected your profession?
Covid-19? This pandemic has affected a lot. No shows, no events and this is where DJs make their monies . Everyone had to postpone their events. Some events had to take place online. So it really affected a lot but to God be the glory I’m making money with my online mixtapes & promotions.

Aside being a DJ, is there more to Baddo?
Like I mentioned earlier, I’m not just a disc jockey but also an entertainer, a promoter, a producer and a blogger.
What do you do at leisure?
All work without play makes DJ Baddo weak & sick. Health is wealth. I have fun, chat, listen to music and relax.

Hmm… I have worked with not so many but just to mention a few of them; Skales, Jaywon, Dr Sid, Reekado Banks, 9ice, Dotman, SmallDoctor Terry G, Danny S and many more.
