In a bid to celebrate this year’s Christmas for Ebonyi people at home and in the Diaspora, Ebonyi State Government, at the weekend, said it has approved and released the sum of over N100 million to assist its indigenes living in Abuja and Lagos State.
This was made known through a statement by Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Media and Strategy, Chooks Oko, as one of the decisions taken by the state government after the executive council meeting, held at the new Exco Chambers, in Abakaliki.
The sum, according to the statement, will cover their transportation for the Christmas celebration, cost of rice, Christmas gifts and largesse to selected 1,270 Ebonyians living in Lagos and Abuja.
Secretary to the State Government, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Commissioner for Health and Commissioner for Special Duties were charged by the State government to supervise the payment of this Christmas empowerment funds to Ebonyians in Abuja and Lagos, adding that each beneficiary must have a Bank Verification Number (BVN) and phone number.
