Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned the decision of the National Broadcasting Commission to sanction the Arise TV, Channels Television, and African Independent Television (AIT) for airing unverified images of the alleged Lekki shooting incident.
Recall that on Monday, NBC fined the three TV stations between N2million and N3million for their roles in covering the incident.
However, reacting to the development, Fani-Kayode via his official twitter handle, described NBC’s action as a desperate act to gag the media.
He also noted that President Muhammadu Buhari has shown that he’s a dictator in nature.

The protest, which began on a peaceful note has since gone violence, with many states experience wanton destructions and looting of public and private properties.
The media houses have been covering the End SARS protests and the subsequent civil disorders in states.
Nigerians are protesting, yet again, after years of horror stories of brazen extortion, illegal detentions, and illegal murders of Nigerians, mostly youths, by the notorious police unit, at the hands of local police. The protesters are demanding the government to scrap the police’s notorious unit.
The recent fury was sparked after graphic footage showing officers from the SARS police unit dragging two men from a hotel in Lagos and shooting one of them in the street.
