Music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has denied joining the #EndSARS protest in Abuja, sparking outrage from Nigerians on social media.
According to Davido, he was only at the venue to calm his fans down.
Davido, who was filmed discussing with the Public Relations officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Frank Mba, while honoring an appointment with the Inspector General of Police said he was not part of the #ENDSARS protest.
He said he only came to Abuja to meet his fans and calm them down.
The video sparked outrage from some of the #EndSARS protesters who accused Davido of chickening out of the protest.

@ayosogunro also said, “Davido’s look of ‘Wetin be all this one now?’ is why I am ambivalent about pressuring entertainers and commercial people take on the role of activists. Many are not prepared for the hardcore aspects of it. My guy was almost apologising for joining the #SARSMUSTEND protest.”
@MrOdanz wrote, “PLEASE, DAVIDO IS NOT SPEAKING FOR THE NIGERIAN YOUTH IN THAT CLOSED DOOR MEETING WITH THE POLICE. HE IS NOT OUR SPOKESMAN. HE IS NOT REPRESENTING US. #ENDSARS #SARSMUSTEND”.
