Tinubu’s Emergence: Final Hope For Nigerian Students – Group

A youth group under the aegis of the Asiwaju National Students Support Organization (ANSSO), has applauded the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the development will bring final hope for Nigerian students.

In a statement issued on Friday by its National Coordinator, Giwa Murtala Omatola-Moore, ANSSO congratulated the former Lagos State governor for realising the first stage of his lifelong ambition of becoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The group said that the victory of Tinubu remains a win for justice, equity, reserved character, competence and national unity at bay to the historical fact of being the only Governor who recruited Nigerians across all divides devoid of tribe, religion and geographical placement to serve under his administration as executive Governor of Lagos.

When Bola Ahmed Tinubu became Governor in 1999, he initiated and began the era of reform, rehabilitation, and rebuilding of the education sector in the state with the goal of making public schools, particularly at the primary level, appealing to the populace; he would go on to invest 1 billion Naira in Lagos State University in 2006, making him the only Governor to do so.

“By July 2000, Bola Ahmed Tinubu launched a free education exercise for all Lagos State public schools, including free registration of WAEC and NECO. He would later become the first Governor to vote 127 million naira and fully initiate and execute payment of bursary/scholarship allowances to all tertiary institution students in Lagos State.

“Looking back from 1999 till date, in our 23 years of a striving democracy made possible by Bola Ahmad Tinubu and colleagues from the National Democracy Coalition (NADECO), no state Governor has recorded such unprinted track records and thunderous investments in education as Bola Ahmad Tinubu.

“The Asiwaju National Students Support Organization (ANSSO), hereby reiterates its stand towards the candidacy of Bola Ahmad Tinubu and will not relent in its common goal of global mass mobilisation of students and youths in view of the actualisation of Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria so as to make Nigeria a Lagos,” the statement read.
