*Irregularities in the House of Representatives Primaries for Ekiti South Federal Constituency II
The Oluwaseun Adeboyejo Campaign Organization wishes to formally state that the House of Representatives primary election conducted on Saturday for Ekiti South Federal Constituency II fell short of globally accepted electoral best practices and was marred by several material irregularities.
Reports from our agents deployed across the constituency indicate that there was no verifiable voter accreditation process at the designated polling units, which undermined the integrity of the voter register and created room for irregularities. In addition, vote counting was disrupted by party officials in some polling units where our agents were present, while in several locations, party officials were absent, thereby preventing proper documentation and oversight.
Official result sheets were neither made available at the ward levels nor at the LG collation centers in accordance with laid-down guidelines. Where result sheets were eventually produced, they were not duly signed by our agents, contrary to the requirements for validation and transparency. These lapses were observed across multiple wards within Ekiti South Federal Constituency II.
The conduct of the election, as described, does not meet the standards of transparency, accountability, and credibility expected in internal party elections. The absence of proper accreditation, open counting, and duly signed result sheets renders the outcome unreliable and inconsistent with democratic norms.
We therefore call on the appropriate party organs at both the federal and state levels to urgently review the conduct of the election in Ekiti South Federal Constituency II. We urge the party to investigate the reported irregularities promptly and impartially, ensure that due process is followed in addressing all grievances arising from the exercise, and uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, and credible democratic standards that the party professes.
We remain committed to due process and to strengthening internal democracy within our party, and we trust that the leadership will act decisively to address this travesty and restore confidence in the process.
Signed
Oluwaseun Adeboyejo Campaign Organisation
